Dr. Marrs’ research, vision and technical expertise are at the foundation of Lucine’s integrated research and diagnostics business. She spent the last dozen years in women’s health research with a focus on steroid neuroendocrinology and mental health. She has published and presented several articles on her findings. As a graduate student, she founded and directed the UNLV Maternal Health Lab, mentoring dozens of students, directing clinical and Internet-based research. Post graduate, she continued at UNLV as an adjunct faculty member, teaching advanced undergraduate psychopharmacology and health psychology (stress endocrinology). Prior to her academic work, she co-developed and ran a software based real estate and rental property management database/search engine, worked in the technology sector performing contract technical (software and hardware) and business systems analysis, usability testing, research and technical writing. Lucine merges her research, technology and systems analysis experience. Dr. Marrs received her BA in philosophy from the University of Redlands; MS in Clinical Psychology from California Lutheran University; and, MA and PhD in Experimental Psychology/ Neuroendocrinology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Larry Tomsic, MBA, CPA
Mr. Tomsic, MBA, CPA has over 25 years of CFO level experience in both public and private companies from startups to companies with billions of dollars in assets. Most recently, Mr. Tomsic guided LiveDeal, a NASDAQ listed company, through a several investment and restructuring programs. LiveDeal had a monthly loss of $1.236 million when he arrived and it was profitable in the month he left, three years later. Mr. Tomsic received his BS in accounting from the University of Delaware and his MBA from the University of Denver.
Kathrin Copley MBA, PhD
VP of Lab Operations & Product Development
Dr. Copley has over 12 years experience in all phases of pharmaceutical drug development and lab management. During her tenure at Amylin Pharmaceuticals, she scaled the GLP-compliant R&D lab from two scientists to 30 and was responsible for all phases of drug development and lab management, from assay development and preclinical through compliance and IND submission. Dr. Copley has developed and validated bioanalytical methods in support of projects in preclinical development. These techniques included HPLC, LC/MS/MS, Immunoassays (RIA, ELISA), bioassays, and protein binding. Dr. Copley earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Nevada, Reno; a BS in Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis; and an MBA from the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego.
Dr. Avdiushko has extensive experience in the emerging field of salivary diagnostics. He has developed diagnostic tests and assays for hormones and viral markers using a variety of methods. Prior to Lucine, Dr. Avdiushko designed and implemented several large clinical trials for oral diagnostics; developed and implemented manufacturing procedures for large-scale DNA production, QA, and validation processes. He has over 20 years of experience as a scientist in academia and more recently, several years in the biotech industry. Dr. Avdiushko holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the Biochemistry Institute in Moscow and an MBA from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Avdiushko has authored over 30 publications on plant pathology, immunology, disease resistance, lipid metabolism, and clinical research in peer-reviewed journals.
As the founding Board member, Rocky has been instrumental in building the Lucine team. He brings over 30 years of executive management experience in technology and biotechnology companies, ranging from startup through large cap companies. Rocky has held senior management positions within the following companies: Mobile 365, Airespace, Gilead Sciences, Tularik, Texas Instruments, ROLM and Fairchild. He has extensive experience in developing early stage companies, creating winning company cultures and linking the human resource function to strategic business initiatives. Rocky received his BA and MS in Human Resource Management from The University of North Texas.
